Nitrous Oxide Plant
Production Process
Nitrous Oxide is produced by heating Ammonium Nitrate to a temperature of 250 Deg.c. Ammonium Nitrate is decomposed in the process to give a mixture of Nitrous Oxide & super heated steam. At the same time impurities are produced including Ammonium Nitrate fumes, Nitrogen & other oxides of Nitrogen. The steam & impurities are removed by scrubbing with water, caustic soda and sulfuric acid in sequence Nitrogen present in traces is removed by bleeding from the top of storage vessels where Nitrous Oxide is stored, after compression by a compressor. Capacities 8 - 24 cum/hr.

Cylinder Testing Station
A cylinder testing station (optional) can be provided to test cylinders. Similarly, a vacuum pump can be also provided to evacuate the cylinders received from customers which might be containing some left over impure nitrous oxide. A small laboratory is a must to maintain complete analysis of batch produced in the plant. The plant is automatic and required only 2 persons to operate per shift besides a chemist.

Nitrous Oxide Plants : Process Description

A storage battery assembly for separation of Nitrogen is another safety feature with the Universal plant. The gas manufactured conforms to Indian Pharmacopeias, US & European standards and is stored in liquid state which can be directly filled into cylinder.
Ammonium nitrate (even technical grade) is melted in a melter. The molten ammonium nitrate flows into a combustion pot where ammonium nitrate is decomposed according to the following reaction:
NH4NO3 ------------> N2O + 2H2O
The reaction is ticklish and has to be controlled properly. If temperature of ammonium nitrate is allowed to go beyond a certain point then we do not yet yield. In our plant we almost get yield of reaction equal to 95% or even more. In practice, however, with N 2O some other impurities are also obtained as products of combustion. There is some undecomposed ammonium nitrate, with its fumes. These are recovery in the primary scrubber. The steam in the hot gas is condensed in the first water scrubber and the entrained moisture and traces of ammonium nitrate get separated in the mist separator. The residual traces of ammonium nitrate, carbon dioxide and other oxides of nitrogen are removed in the caustic scrubber. Nitrous oxide as an oxide gas for atomic absorption in spectrophotometer and as fuel oxidant for racing vehicles.
The gas containing some nitrogen is then stored in the gas balloon. The gas is compressed with a compressor, dried in a drier and then refrigerate when it becomes liquid. Liquid nitrous oxide is stored in high-pressure storage vessel into cylinders and the gas is filled by weight. In a low pressure plant the gas after refrigeration is stored in a storage tank and from there it is filled in cylinders with a pump. Each batch is analyzed in the laboratory to ensure quality of the product and proper record is maintained. |

Most Abundant Gas
Carbon Dioxide Plant is a system to generate Carbon Dioxide. CO2 is in a gaseous form at standard temperature and pressure. It is slightly poisonous, colorless and odorless gas, utilized for various industrial functions. CO2 being the most abundant gas in the aura plays a vital part in human's life process, like respiration, digestion and photosynthesis. The consumption and production rate of carbon dioxide is heavy at plastics, fertilizers, rubber and various other industries. Gas plant suppliers usually supply complete purification of CO2 on a turnkey basis.
The Process
The biological procedures and burning along with fermentation, digestion and decomposition reaction of organic material results to the establishment of carbon dioxide plants. Types Of CO2 Gas Plants
Generating plants
Generating plants are grounded on various fossil fuels combustion including kerosene, diesel oil or natural gas. Applications of CO2
Gas Plants produce Carbon dioxide in mainly two forms - Liquid and Solid. Solid CO2 is also known as "dry ice" and is used as refrigerants in food industry and for small shipments. Plants: Plants require CO2 to execute photosynthesis, and greenhouses can promote plant growth with additional CO2.
Pressured Gas: It is used as the cheapest noncombustible pressurized gas. Pressured CO2 are inside tins in life jackets. Compressed CO2 gas is used in paintball markers, airguns, for ballooning bicycle tires.
Medicine: In medicine, up to 5% CO2 is added to pure oxygen. This helps in provoking breathing and to stabilize the O2/CO2 balance in blood.
CO2 Laser: The CO2 laser, a common type of industrial gas laser uses CO2 as a medium. Welding: It also find its use as an atmosphere for welding.
Oil Wells: Carbon dioxide is commonly injected into or next to producing oil wells.
Chemical Industry: It is used as a raw material in the chemical process industry, especially for urea and methanol production.
Metals Industry: It is used in the manufacture of casting influences so as to enhance their hardness.
